AN INTRODUCTION TO MY PODCAST: STARTING OVER LATER

Why a Podcast?

After publishing my first book, I began writing book two, A Boomer in Bordeaux.  But during that process, my mind kept going in a different direction, focusing on an old idea.  That idea was for a Video Podcast which culminated from my new chapter, the relocation journey, and an article about me and my decision to move to France. I had received numerous inquiries from people who reached out to me after reading that Business Insider Article – (Link to article from my Media Page on my website) asking questions about my move, the whys, the how’s, and the what was it like to adapt and live in a foreign country?

This event made me realize that many people are either thinking about resetting their lives or are in the process of starting over. Since I like telling stories and have more stories to tell, I felt a Podcast would be a wonderful platform for bringing a like-minded community of people together for sharing these types of starting over stories.

It seems like it has taken an eternity to develop and create this idea. Beginning in May, when I put my second book aside to begin development on this podcast. I mapped out my prodcution, organized, and scripted my first two seasons (12 episodes each) of both the solo and guest episodes to produce Starting Over Later, which is the title of my show. I know a lot about that subject. This Video Podcast is designed for Baby Boomers and Women over 50 who are on the verge of resetting their lives. I plan to post two episodes a month: one solo and one guest episode on my YouTube Podcast Channel. The guests I’ve chosen have started over too and they have very interesting backgrounds and stories to tell. It’s a good diverse mix of people GenXers and Baby Boomers.

Naturally, Episode 1 of this Podcast is my story, The Turning Point, about how I started over. Besides my Starting Over Later Story and those of my guests, my solo podcast episodes will focus on my viewers/listeners who are on the verge of starting over. I’ll take them through the steps of resetting one’s life-as I discuss the psychology behind this process, offer guidance, helpful tips, and suggestions for starting over.

For example, Episode two - How to Prepare for a Life Reset Without Fear? Here I discuss why people get stuck, how fear plays a role in delaying the process, and then how to overcome that emotion and move forward toward one’s goals.

I’ve even created a Starting Over Workbook, that is a pdf companion guide to my podcast for subscribers to download. And a smaller Listener Companion Workbook for all listeners available during every episode of my guest interviews, with prompts specific to the guests.

I hope this post resonates with you if you are on the verge of starting over.  Please join my Starting Over Later podcast community on YouTube - Link to Podcast Channel

PERILS OF A PODCAST PRODUCER

I love storytelling. My podcast project is all about stories, mine and other peoples'.  The Podcast Project I started working on this idea in May 2026. I knew I wanted to produce a podcast but I hadn't decided on a clear theme or subject for my show. I brainstormed a few ideas when this one hit me like a brick. It was so obvious that I should do a show that incorporated storytelling with practical discussions about beginning again. I started over at age 73, and I know many other people who have started over too. I could create a show on this premise and ask others to join me for lively discussions about Starting Over Later in life. The Research and Development First, I had to decide whether or not I wanted only an Audio podcast vs a Video podcast. The issue was me being the host and being on camera. I've never been comfortable in front of the camera, although I have had many on-camera appearances. Still, it's not my thing.  I had to learn how to produce a podcast for Y...
